Forgotten Classics: Freshwater

Kings Head Theatre, Islington
By Virginia Woolf
22nd Apr - 22nd Apr 2007
Duration: 100 mins
Written 1935 for private performance.
This quirky and hugely enjoyable comedy is Virginia Woolf's only play. The most iconic female writer of the twentieth century serves up a delicious cocktail of sharp satire and sparkling wit, with a magnificently silly cast including Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Ellen Terry, and Queen Victoria! Performed originally by leading members of the Bloomsbury Group in the Woolfs' own sitting room.
Both versions of this one-act play will be performed by a cast including Edmund Kingsley as G.F.Watts, Antonina Lewis as Ellen Terry, Karen Ascoe as Julia Margaret Cameron and Anita Wright as Queen Victoria.
